Report: Feature Race Weekend - 13 & 14 June '09

The weekend of 13/14 June was a feature race weekend with a race to Harwich on Saturday and a race back on Sunday. Six boats were on the start line on Saturday for the Puxley Trophy with 4 yachts cruising in company and 2 motor boats carrying the camp followers. The weekend was graced with glorious weather and the race to Harwich was a starboard tack reach all the way with spinnakers set from the Spitway. Sunday’s race back for the Grayling Bowl was a little more trying with the wind more fickle and on the nose. On Saturday evening over 50 members sat down for dinner in the Shipwreck Restaurant at Shotley marina. The Crouch Yacht Club Commodore Paul Drew won the race to Harwich in his First 29 Harvest Moon. The race back was won by Duncan and Beccy Hayley’s SJ320 Double Trouble.
