Last weekend, 8th and 9th August, the Crouch Yacht Club had one of their Feature Race Weekends.  Four boats – Phillip and Sally Harbott’s “Mantra”, Harry Croker’s “Cheetah of Burnham”, Duncan & Beccy Haley’s “Double Trouble” and Alan Bartlett’s “Inn Spirit” took part in the racing with a couple of cruising boats joining in the fun together with the Committee Boat “Havana Papa”.
 
On Saturday the race was from Burnham-on-Crouch to Bradwell.  The race originally was scheduled to start from the Club Line but due to a lack of wind and with reports coming from down river that there was some wind there the start was moved to a Committee Boat start at the Branklet Buoy.  Here all boats got away well and in brilliant sunshine and with a good breeze all enjoyed a wonderful race.  The race was won by “Double Trouble” with “Cheetah of Burnham” in second place.
 
On Sunday the course was the reverse of Saturday and the start was slightly delayed to allow the boats to get out of Bradwell Marina on a rising tide.  Again the weather was just right and all four boats finished the course.  Duncan and Beccy Haley rounded off a good weekend with another win, this time with “Inn Spirit” coming second.
