Crew available

Ernest Dyer – looking for offshore crewing opportunities

Personal details.

Work F/T as university lecturer. Live Bromley south London.
I have successfully completed Competent Crew certificate during a week spent on a 34’ Fulmar. During this week
I was allowed to undertake the same practical activities (day and night navigation, boat control, etc) as others on the boat who were undertaking the ‘Coastal Skipper’ practical course. The skipper said that she would have passed me for this section of the CS course if I had been registered for it.

Over a period of 5 years (2000-2005) I have owned and sailed (single-handed) a 32’ traditional Norfolk Broads (gaff-rigged) sailing cruiser. I think that this experience allowed me to gain some understanding of sailing techniques (I also crewed in a couple of Broads races); although nothing on navigation or tidal sailing. I currently sail a Firefly dinghy at Chipstead Sailing Club, Chipstead, Kent.

I am available most weekends and have a fairly generous amount of leave some of which would be available for sailing.

I weigh just under 11st and am 5’.9” in height. I consider myself to be physically fit – I weight train (at home and for fitness not strength) three time a week, jog 5 miles at least once a week, and am also a fairly good swimmer. In the past I have undertaken the St John’s Ambulance ‘First Aider’ course.

I would be interested in any crewing opportunities.
